The area was declared a game reserve and forest reserve before being gazette a national park, it was opened for public access few years later after being declared a national park wand was declared by UNESCO as a world heritage site in 1987 and voted as one of the seven natural wonders of Africa in 2013.The park is 48 kilometers away from Moshi tow and it covers an area of 1668kilometers square, Kilimanjaro Mountain is located within this park with a snow capped crest that glistens in the tropical African sun. Kilimanjaro Mountain is the Africas’ highest mountain basically lies along the equator standing 5,896metres high. The Mountain is located 3° south of the equator; it’s an extinct volcano with two famous peaks – Kibo which is also known as Uhuru peak and Mawenzi peak which are both surrounded by dense forest full of amazing variety of flora and fauna. Its allure is undeniable attracting mountain trekker all over the year but the best time to climb the mountain is from mid-June to October which is the dry time and clearest, the warmest condition to climb this mountain are from December to February and mid-march often before rain starts.
